I am very pleased with the new Frogg Toggs Road Toad motorcycle rain suit. It is very well designed for wet, damp, rainy conditions.
The rainsuit for motorbikes is very lightweight, so is ideal to wear over your usual riding gear. It can also be easily rolled up and stored away into a very compact bag that comes with it. This is ideal for changeable weather when you don’t want to be riding your motor bike in a damp suit during hot spells, or even to carry the suit with you in case you get an unexpected shower. I also like the fact that the suit is in two separate parts, so it’s not as restrictive as an all-in-one suit. It’s great for mobility on the bike, and for when nature calls! But you might also decide just to remove the bottom half when the weather improves. Also, sometimes with a separate jacket there can be ballooning on the bike, but this doesn’t happen with the Road Toad. It stays comfortably fitted to the body at all times. The motorcycle rain jacket has a front zipper with a storm flap, so it’s very difficult for the rain to get through there. There is also a compact hood attached to the jacket that can either be worn under the helmet, or packed inside the jacket if you prefer. It is so thin that it’s undetectable when it’s packed away. The side pockets on the pants allow you to access pockets on your normal gear, and also have a storm flap, again making them waterproof. There is also a zipper at the bottom of each leg to allow the pants to go over boots easily, so once on, they’re a snug fit but easy to get on and off.
The whole motorcycle suit is very waterproof but is also breathable, so you don’t end up being as wet on the inside as on the outside.
Another feature is the suit has reflective piping right across the jacket, the arms and down the legs. I chose the green and black suit for better visibility, but the reflective piping even on the black suit will ensure you are seen, which is a great feature.
All in all I am very impressed with the Road Toad suit, and I think it is a must-have essential item when traveling on a motorbike for any distance, especially if weather is forecast to be unpredictable. It is compact lightweight and very waterproof. It is designed as an addition to your normal riding gear so that you don’t get drenched in wet weather, and for this reason it is not a particularly warm suit. But for me this is an advantage as it can get quit uncomfortable if you are too hot under your waterproof gear.
For what you pay for the Road Toad I think you get exceptional value for money and I would highly recommend to any rider who is looking for practicality, comfort and value for money when looking for motorcycle rain gear.
